“Thinking Together” is a discourse format dedicated to exploring the phenomenon of time in its socio-political, philosophical and artistic dimensions. It provides a space for transdisciplinary exchange, collective learning and unlearning. Freely accessible the project makes time for reflecting the politics of time together with artists and international guests from the fields of philosophy, political and social sciences and cultural studies.
This year’s focus on “Decolonizing Time” is a proposal to think beyond Western-centric time regimes. The linear, unidirectional, clock-based temporal matrix of Western modernity encoded in notions like “universal time”, “universal history”, “progress”, or “contemporaneity” is strongly interrelated with the hegemonic mind. “Thinking Together” 2017 seeks to investigate the normative chrono-politics of modernity, in search for a multiplicity of decolonized temporalities.
